ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Located 50 km southeast of Bishkek, in a small village of all Kyrgyz-speaking Muslims, Jarbashy school was founded in 2009. When the former mayor of Tokmok city invited the Foundation to build a primary school in his hometown, a Kyrgyz Muslim village, Mr. Yang knew it was not an easy job. The elders in the village are very much against other religions such as Christianity. However, Mercy Foundation insisted that if they were going to build a school, it must teach the Bible to the students as a required class. Finally, God’s plan prevailed and the village elders agreed with the terms of the Foundation.
SPIRITUAL IMPACT
There are Bible lessons where students learn the Gospel through Bible stories and Christian cartoons at Jarbashy School. Since the school opened, we have faced many difficulties to create possibilities for spiritual and moral education for the children of Jarbashy village. Now we can see the work that God did, people at Jarbashy village and especially children become more open to hearing God’s Word.
SUMMER CAMP 2021
As Jarbashy is a Kyrgyz living village, we prayed that our volunteers would be from Kyrgyz nationality too. God blessed us. Kyrgyz-speaking Christian camp was held by 6 Kyrgyz volunteers and 4 helpers from the school.
During the week we talked about becoming God’s children and repentance, many children expressed a desire to open their hearts to Jesus. We also talked about inner beauty and sins. There were about 60 children participating in our camp every day, including children from neighboring villages. The special thing about camp was that children could communicate with mentors in their mother language. It made children feel free to express themselves and gave an opportunity to get to know Jesus deeply.
